About Us
The Jerusalem Center for Research was founded in 1985 to act as an interface between Halacha and the applications of technology to modern life.

In 1990, the Center began focusing on questions of medicine and Halacha in response to demand for insight and halachic direction concerning bioethical issues.

There is increased awareness and desire among physicians and laymen to assure that all medical procedures and decisions are carried out according to religious beliefs.

Observant families need to know that all medical decisions conform with their religious outlook. The speed of technological progress demands that Halachic authorities are continuously updated about medical developments and this is one of our main goals.

Our Researchers
Our researchers are carefully selected by the Dean of the Center, Rabbi Yaakov Weiner, for their skills in analyzing and synthesizing relevant halachic sources. They are continually updated about medical developments by the Medical Advisory Board and by visits to medical centers.

The Medical Advisory Board
The Board is an integral part of the Center and crucial to its success. Its members are world-renowned Israeli medical professors from medical centers around the country. Each member represents a major area of specialization. The Board ensures that the Center's researchers stay up-to-date in the fast-moving world of medicine.
